The Mitsui Seiki J350G ultra-high precision jig grinder has an accuracy of + /- 0.0007 mm and grinding wheel U-axis infeed range between -3 and +50 mm to support continuous automatic CNC grinding of multiple features, plus a variety of hole sizes and contoured shapes with a single grinding wheel. The machine also has the benefit to the operator of the user friendly development of the Mitsui Advanced Programming support software G-MAPS.
Now in the portfolio of 2D CNC Machinery of Hinckley, which has its own in-house grinding specialist, the J350G’s automatic cycle capability can produce contoured features as well as multiple hole sizes programmed via Fanuc 31iB control with 15 inch touch panel screen. Incorporated within the control is Mitsui’s G-MAPS fine grinding conversational software which provides programming icons, data entry or conventional data input. G-MAPS enables quick setting of wheel data including dressing intervals, has a simple setting screen and enables wheel and grinding conditions to be monitored including hole location and position tolerances. There is also an analogue display for simple commands using switches and dials.
The machine also provides four specification options for high frequency spindles covering 9,000 to 45,000 revs/min plus an ultra-fast air turbine of 175,000 revs/min.
Built to Mitsui Seiki’s exacting standards for precision and extended production life, the left and right hand slideways are V-F flats and the Y-axis, for spindle head motion, is V-V flat shaped. All bearing surfaces are hand scraped for ultimate positioning accuracy and repeatability. In addition and included as standard, following a partnership with Heidenhain, special custom-built positioning scales for X, Y and Z axes extend the accuracy potential.
Working range in X-axis is 500 mm, Y-axis saddle traverse is 300 mm and the maximum distance from the 700 mm by 350 mm table, which has a maximum 350 kg load, is 450 mm. The travel of the Z-axis quill is 100 mm with 95 mm ‘chopping-motion’ available up to 200 cycles/min. W-axis travel is 300 mm.
The planetary motion speed is 5 to 300 revs/min and grinding infeed stroke U-axis -3 to +50 mm. Rapid feed rates in X and Y are up to 2,000 mm/min, Z is 3,000 mm/min and the C-axis spindle, 2,600 deg/min. Grinding feed rate in X is 0.1 to 2,000 mm/min Z, 0.1 to 13,000 mm/min and C-axis, 0.1 to 2,600 deg/min.
